Technology has a lot of advantages to any fields and to people. Thus, the topic is truly significant to me as a future teacher for the reason that it made me understand more about the impact of technology advancement to the production of learning materials and resources. As a future educator, understanding and utilizing technology tools has a big help to me as it is crucial for enhancing teachers and students engagement and learning outcomes. Technology tools are a great help to teachers for it absolutely makes tasks easier and faster. It is also effective in teaching as it has specific features that can be demonstrated through technology. In addition, these tools create a wider connections between teachers and technology, as well as the learners in a way that these tools can help generate more advanced features that are essential in learning nowadays.
Teaching practices are very different from today's. A lot of these practices are no longer observed and no longer applicable nowadays. Among these practices are the use of visual aids such as manila papers and chalk boards. The use of chalks and books are almost no longer observed these days. The students are purely the receivers of knowledge, and do have their opportunity to take charge in the lecturing process. Even in the assessment of learnings, the early generation uses paper and pencil tests which are now already done and through performance tasks.
To be a successful and effective teacher in the future, I must possess the characteristics of a 21st century teachers such as channel, leader, exemplar, communicator, collaborator, futurist, learner, and venture player. Though out of those eight (8) characteristics I only possess four (4) characteristics of a 21st century teacher which are communicator, collaborator, learner, and venture player. However, by the time that I become a teacher in the future, I'll make sure that I possess those characteristics of a 21st century teacher that can help the learners change learn and change their life through knowledge.
Aside from knowing some of the characteristics of a 21st century teacher, we, the future teachers should not only possess those eight (8) characteristics of a 21st century teacher, but also we should possess a good character, personality, traits, as we, teachers and newcomers in this field serves as the model of the learners. Teachers should always wear a happy smile to make the classroom environment enjoyable and happy.
In my perspective, teacher-centered approach should be changed to student-centered approach because of many reasons. Among these reasons it that student-centered approach is more effective that the teacher-centered approach. I say that the first approach is more effective because the learners in this environment learn by doing. It views the learner as primary and unique agents of learning, engagement, and connection. They personally and first handedly engage and practice the discipline. They also have the opportunity to collaborate and discuss their own perspectives as they discover and learn new and diverse knowledge.
